More ADHD Resources: Local and Online. Shows a girl playing with fidget spinners

Several months ago we ran a blog post series on ADHD-- including a list of local and online resources. Since then we've become aware of some additional resources that we wanted to share. Thank you everyone who contacted us to help us find out about these places! If there is a resource for ADHD, Autism, or any other group that we serve, feel free to contact us and let us know so that we can share.

Now on to the resources!

Huntington Learning Center is a national chain of tutoring facilities, including several branches here in Utah. (A new center just barely opened up in South Jordan; I've had the chance to meet the local owners and they are great people!) They offer after school and summer tutoring and test prep-- and this includes specialized programs for students with ADHD. (This can also be a resource for Gifted Learners; they focus on working at a student's own pace, which is helpful for asynchronous development.)

Unfortunately, many adults with ADHD struggle with addiction and substance abuse. There are a variety of reasons for this, ranging from struggles with impulsivity to

challenges with depression and anxiety to chemical imbalances in the brain. Drug Rehab offers information and resources on addiction recovery, and has an informative section about how addiction interacts with other disorders including ADHD.

SAMHSA is an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services. They have information on a variety of disorders, including ADHD. SAMHSA also offers grants for research, a registry of therapists and employment specialists, and other resources.

The AAC-AP is a non-profit that provides resources to

professionals and parents of children and teenagers who have mental illnesses. Their page on ADHD has a huge set of resources, including fact sheets, information about medications, assessment scales, online classes for professionals, and educational videos.

ADD Referral logo

ADDReferral is a website listing clinics and professionals who work with ADHD throughout the US. They also from time to time put up articles about ADHD and tips for living with it for children, teens, and adults.

That's it for now, but we may do another follow-up post in the future if we find other resources to share. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Please feel free to leave a message on this post or to contact us. You can also find us on Facebook, Google+, and other social media. Take care, and we'll see you soon!
